When Covid cancelled the conferences, exoplanet scientists lost the place where they presented and discussed their findings. The Leiden Observatory (Sterrenwacht) wanted to fix that with a YouTube-like video platform: scientists from all over the world upload talks about their research, and peers discuss them in the comments.

I was responsible for most of the build: a server-side rendered Next.js front-end on a Strapi back-end, with video uploads through the Vimeo API.

• Video uploads via the Vimeo API, each talk published with its own discussion section
• Gated signup: admins approve or reject new members from the front-end, with SendGrid handling the mail
• Comment notifications by email, so presenters can discuss findings with their peers
• Search across all published talks
